i am in a dilemma choosing an external hdd. i am between the wd digital my book and the seagate backup plus desktop drive. the main use will be backing up my pc and i would like a friendly interface in the backing up software because i am not familiar with the process. Right now i am leaning towards the wd model but iwould like to hear your opinion too.

I honestly hate all backing up software. The easiest way I've found is to just copy any important files to the external HDD through the Windows Explorer. I would go with WD for everything up to 1TB, then Seagate for anything over 2TB, just because the pound per GB changes at this size

If you want my attention, quote my post or I will not see it. I ignore builds that do not use PCPartPicker.

Hey Manos,

Are you looking for a portable external solution or more of a larger external drive that sits on your desk and you perform continuous backups?
I could suggest checking the other WD solutions both portable and non-portable:

Also for a backup program I could suggest giving WD SmartWare a look. It has a bunch of useful features and it has a pretty friendly UI. Here's a link to that too: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=Uq9MHo
