So I was wondering the other day when I picked up a new Graphics card. Are there GPU after market air coolers? There are after market water blocks for Graphics cards, and there are coolers for CPUs. But why not GPUs. So I am asking, do they exist, and if so, where can I pick one up that is silent as my new GPU is NOISY. (It's in the Define R5 :P).

Personally, I do not like the idea of water cooling, not that I have not tried it. I have. And it was OK but it was loud and my thermals ended up being better with the Hyper 212 evo.

So, if anybody can help me with my dilemma that would be great. Btw, my Graphics card is the Gigabyte Windforce R9 290x OC

Thanks! ;)

Arctic has tons of models

Gelid also has some

Raijntek also has a few

And prolimatech and zalman also have some but they are old/hard to get.

I've used an arctic cooler on a couple graphics cards and it was much better, kept my cards noticeably cooler and was quieter than what came on the card.

They generally have much larger / more fins than the coolers on most graphics cards meaning more surface area to dissipate heat from.

They usually are designed only to make contact with the GPU and not other parts like the vram, power regulators and such, though most arctic ones I've seen come with thermal pads and fins to stick on to those components to keep them cool.

Keep in mind that these after market coolers are thicker, often longer and heavier than the ones on most graphics cards.
