So my 800w psu came with this several cables like this one http://www.amazon.com/PCI-Express-Video-Y-Splitter-Adapter-Supply/dp/B00A3OVG4W

8 pin in the psu and 2x 6+2 on the other side, that's the cable

imagining the gpu needs 2x 8 pin connectors, should I use one of those cables? or should I plug two of them in my PSU and use two separate cables.

I've often wondered this myself. I would assume it's fine to use one cable for both connectors (otherwise the second connector on the cable is useless) but that is just a guess

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB

If your GPU needs that much power that it uses 2 8pins, it's highly recommended to use two separate cables. However with lower power draw PSUs like GTX 970/980 that still need two plugs, it's fine to use one cable that has two connectors.
