hey guys,

yesterday i picked up a second hand msi g41-p34 motherboard with a pentium dual core 2,4ghz (i thought the model was 2220 or something, i'll check when i'm home)

the board post's fine but when i want to install any os the installer, in case of windows gets stuck at the green bar (windows 7) or at the spinner (windows 8), with a linux installation i just get a black screen.

i thought it could be a memory issue so i swapped it with different memory and i got the same result, although memtest86 passed easily.

later i swapped the cpu with a 1,8ghz pentium dual core and i saw no difference either.

also i tried a dedicated gpu, but with no result again.

i have tried the install from dvd, from usb, and from my zalman ve300 to ide and sata drives.

now i think the chipset has issues, is there any way i can further verify this?

cheers!

simon
