PS/2 port on rear IO not functioning

so i have a old generic ps/2 keyboard that i wanna plug into my pc's native ps/2 port but it won't funciton. my mobo is an ASRock Z97 Extreme6. under device manager, when i plug the damn thing in, the device is not detected but on the keyboard, the caps, scroll and the num lock light up then go out. any solutions? i am stuck with a PS/2 to USB adapter for now

Did you restart the PC? afaik for PS/2 devices to be detected the PC needs to be restarted

thx man it worked. did not know that ps/2 devices are not hot-swappable

Yeah, new PS/2 devices won't be detected while the PC is running, but devices already plugged in can be removed without issue.
