Windows 8.1 Multi-Monitor/Multi-Aspect Ratio Steam Issue

Hi everyone. I have 8.1 pro. I have 2 monitors, 1 is 16:9 and the other is 4:3 (pretty much purely for teamspeak and steam). I upgraded from 7 to 8.1 and now when I maximize steam on the 4:3 monitor it treats it as if it is 16:9 and I can only see half of the program.

I can fix it by resizing myself, but that is an annoying fix. Anyone have any clue?

I'm reposting this since nobody responded yesterday.

I have a similar dual monitor setup (same aspect ratios) I'll have a look when I get home see if mine does this.

GFX card may have a baring on this are you still running the GTX 780 as listed in your sig?

Yup. Although this issue does not happen on Win 7, only 8 and 8.1.

Just checked it on my Windows 8.1 machine and the maximize works fine so it's not an issue with Steam.

Have you adjusted any of the monitor scaling options in GForce experience?

Also Nvidia released a new driver today, I doubt it'll fix it but worth installing just in case

Nope. I can switch back to 7 with the exact same settings and it works just fine.

It does this for me too. You cannot use the windows snapping to do that.

The way I get around this is I manually resized the steam window to fit the 4:3 monitor, and then positioned it correctly.

When i got to 16:9 monitor i just windows snap it, and when I remove the windows snap it goes back to the 4:3 size.

Yeah that's what I've been doing, just wanted to figure out whether anyone else had this issue/found a way around it. I'm hoping windows 10 won't have this. 7 didn't.

Do you have Display Fusion installed?

That could be the issue as I also have it installed, but I am not really bothered enough about it to remove Display Fusion and test.

Yeah welcome to Win8.1... Nothing you can do about it unless install a program that fixes the aspect ratio.

Sorry buddy! But you need to be in the same resolution..

Out of curiosity is you primary monitor on the right or left of the secondary, I'm presuming the 4:3 is the secondary?

Primary is on the left 4:3 is the secondary on the right.

That's the same as mine and it works fine.

Do you have any software for windows/screen management installed other than Gforce and windows native support?

What cable do you use to connect to the monitors?

Displayport for primary DVI for secondary. Again, this works perfectly well in W7. Dual booting atm. But that isn't worth reverting back to 7. The cables on each have changed several times since then.

You could try putting the monitor drivers on, I'm starting to run out of ideas now though so not sure what else it could be.

Do other windows maximise OK on that monitor? I thought steam ran as a normal window so should maximise to the same size as any other window.
