Hello all! I am building an X99 system in the somewhat near future and can't decide which motherboard to get. I have narrowed it down to two: the MSI X99S Krait edition (or X99S SLI PLUS) and the ASUS X99 Deluxe. I'm going for a black/white theme and have the money for both boards, but can't quite decide what to do... Some help would be greatly appreciated?

Don't really matter, but I would choose depending on which features you need. Let's say that one board has a feature you want that the other board doesn't, then go for the one that has what you want.

If they have the same features, then from what I've heard, ASUS has a better reputation as a motherboard manufacturer than MSI. That doesn't mean MSI motherboards are bad though.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Get the cheapest one.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

I'm still pretty new to this whole motherboard thing as its my first desktop. Any features I need to look for?

It really depends on your needs. Like for example (you probably won't be needing this) if you need to OC with LN2, then you'd wanna look for a board that has features for OCing with LN2 like voltage checkpoints, dual BIOS, defrosting, etc. You might want to look for features such as wifi, better audio, USB 3.1, and whatever else happens to be listed under features under your motherboard. But like I said - it really depends on what you need.

Also, what @niofalpha said - you might just wanna get the cheaper one.
