Which GPU is better the AMD r9 280x or the GTX 960 for this build. Going to use it as a Gaming/Editing and I guess calling it a workstation. Also is the motherboard good or should I use a Asus z97 WS ATX board. This one may lack a few things, but I will overclock in the future just let you guys know.

GTX 960 -> less power consumption and less heat output

 

R9 280X -> performs better

What kind of editing are you doing?

Why such a large case and psu? Are you planning to cf?

Is the optical drive really necessary?
