Hey guys, this is my first time trying to build a PC, and this was the build list I was going for. I've pretty much got everything connected correctly to the best of my knowledge, but it doesn't start up when I connect it to the power outlet. After diagnosing the PC a bit, my Power Supply doesn't seem like it's working. My GPU fans and CPU heat sink were rotating, and I connected a monitor to check for a signal, but nothing seemed to work.

This is the build I've been working with so far. I changed the RAM to be 2x4GB DDR3-1866 Slots, but I doubt that changes the problem.

  • Some Intel H81 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs."

Previously Trogdor8freebird

5800x | Asus x570 Pro Wifi (barely enough for 64GB apparently given it's 2133 and still crashes sometimes) | 64GB DDR4 | 3070 Ti 8GB | Love that whole weeb shit

If your fans turn on, it's not an issue with your PSU.

My money's on the fact that you're using a Haswell Refresh chip with an H81 board. You should have got either an i5-4440 to use with that board, or an H97 board to use with that chip.

To fix this issue you'll need to find a way to get your hands on a Haswell non-refresh chip to update the BIOS, or return your chip and get a 4440.
