Hi, just a question, I hear all this stuff about gpu drivers in Linus' videos and I wondered what they've meant. I checked my system drivers and I'm running on the default Microsoft compatiblity drivers. I have a R9 270, so should I try to get the AMD drivers, will there be much boost in performance for the hastle?

If so how would I do go about installing them?

Thanks, new to the forums

Yes, it should of came with a cd with amd catalyst on there, this is how you should get drivers.if not a quick google search will find ot from amd. You should also look into msi afterburner to keep a eye on temps of if you want to overclock. Welcome to the fourms!

Yes, you could likely get a boost from mantle and better utilization of al dem cores. Drivers are not that hard to find just google search your cards name followed by the word drivers and you are usually good.

“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”

Thanks guys, surprisingly quick responses. I've checked and AMD catalyst automaticly installed when I downloaded my first game. Is this all I need, does mantle come with it? Or is more work needed? Im good with the hardware side of computers, but software kinda stumps me >_<.

Btw, not too interested in overclocking my case doesn't exactly have the greatest ventilation and I downloaded CPUid HW monitor to check temps and when it's under load it's around

45-55 C so I don't think there's much room there. Just a side note.

Also can you see my build below the post?

I can see your build via your profile, not visible as a "signature" under your post though. Max safe temp is 62c for fx 6300(from what I remember). MSI afterburner is used to OC the GPU though.

As for as ATI drivers go, I think THIS site (forum) is the best one for them. You have discussions for every recent driver and I'm sure you'll find quite a few people with the same card as yours).  :)

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.
