Hey guys, this is my first forum post as well so yay :D

Anyhow im planning out a build from scratch(upgrading from outdated laptop) but im really on a tight budget. I've made my decision on the hardware and its the bare minimum i need(gaming purposes mostly) and will improve from here after time, when i can save up money again.

So cut to chase: i cant decide what case to get. My father says case isnt that important, others say it will last me longer than the build itself so might get the best i can.

What is your opinion? The case i desire more is the Fractal Design Define R4 and the low-budget alternatives are carbide 200 or 300 from corsair. I know also the carbide 330r is going to come out(or is it out yet and just couldnt find at any retailer) wich is a bit cheeper but almost does the same and the looks are identical as well.

What do you guys suggest? Saving money is always good and i need money for food and other stuff(funding college semester) but also as i was seeing the difference is approx. 20-30 euros between fractal and corsair cases that i named(200r is more like 50euros) but it still can feed me for a week.

Thanks for the replies in advance.

Buy whatever you want, but remember that you'll be looking at it every day.

C70 is even more expensive than a Fractal by 30 euros or so here... but yeah its a pretty good looking case as well.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Well, the fact that the case will last you longer than your build, is quite true, I have a 500R that I have since it's released, so approximatly 2-3 years, and I had already 3 different build in this case, and it's still looking new like the first day I got it.

So yes getting a better case from the start is very important imo, and yes this Fractal case is a great choice, but imo, the 300R would be a bit better, it's a great small sized ATX case with incredible airflow.

Edit: As of personnal experience, I would recommend you to look at what Corsair, Antec, Cooler Master and NZXT has to offer, they all make great cases.

corsair c70 is a really nice case

It's expensive though, kind of going in the opposite direction.

People say the case doesn't really matter. It does. Don't just go for a cheap case because you can afford it, You'll end up just swapping it as I did! Go for your most favorite case, even if it means saving for a short while!

if money is an issue, just get a shoe box and put your mobo in it.

it might not be pretty, but might save you $100. :)

Thanks guys you kinda backed me up on how i feel. 330R is like a month from now of even getting(or even more if they cant supply it still) it and im kinda pissed by the laptop i have now... if im correct Define R4 is around a 100$ and 330r will come in at 90 or so, and with VAT(define costs like 130 carbide300r costs a 100...) here its almost gonna cost the same. 300r is nice but i will always feel that i settled and im not totally happy with it... i want a good silent case, with nice features and a sleek minimalist look so it doesnt stand out from the color theme of my room. I might do some pics after i got the stuff and assembled it  ;)

Defiantly take some pictures, the build log community is really supportive.
