Hello, I am looking forward to buying an SSD but i have no clue what it is and what it does, it would also be good if you would suggest me something worth max. 60-70 €

Also, I have DDR2 motherboard 500 GB hard drive.

Thanks,

Stores stuff like a your 500GB HDD but no offense you are gonna need more then an SSD to get performance.

An SSD (Solid State Drive) is a form of permanent storage much like a hard drive, but is based on solid state storage. This is non volatile flash memory meaning that it keeps the data when power is not supplied. They are effectively a faster replacement for HDDs. They are significantly faster and much more resistant to physical damage, but are generally smaller and more expensive.

An SSD will increase your PCs performance, but not in games and other processing workloads. It will make your PC boot faster and your programs and general use will feel more responsive due to the faster speeds of the SSD, but the SSD will not affect your games in any way.

I recommend an SSD as a boot drive as they make using a PC a better overall experience, but if you want raw FPS in games and SSD will have no impact.

Buying second hand drives is not recommended, but I would especialy avoid second hand SSDs as it is much harder to tell the health of the drive because they don't show warning symptoms like HDDs.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask if you have any more questions :)
