First gaming PC build need help

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Yes, the psu is more than enough.

Is the optical drive really necessary?

Hi im building my first gaming and need thoughts on my build. One of the main things is the power supply i would like to know if my XFX 550w 80+ Bronze psu can handle everything mainly because the gpu is a EVGA gtx 960 Super SC 2gb. I will provide a link below for my build.

Thank you for letting me know the power supply will work. As for the optical drive, i just like having one lol. I know you can just flash files now but it cant hurt to have it on hand just in case.

its a good solid build. im sure somebody is going to tell you the r9 280 is better but personally i like nvidia for all their other features like physx and what not

I was going back and forth between the two and decided on the gtx 960 cause i get the witcher 3 for free when buying it off amazon also it already supports directx 12.i wasnt sure if the r9 280 did or not.

Thank you for the recommendation greatly appreciate it. i had a build that was similar except it didn't have a ssd and the gpu was 270x. The main reason i went with the i5 4590 is because there is micro center 20 minutes away from me and its on sale for $165 and that's including tax.

You should be able to stick with the 960 by just grabbing the 4590 and swapping the board: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-h97manniversary
