Well, I don't really suggest APU.... Why not CPU+GPU?

This is based on Linus's AMA Cavari build. I want to know what you think. I'm not using a GPU until since the CPU has 8 GPU cores built in. Think of this as a basic gaming/powerful PC to be Overclocked to 4.0 from 3.7GHz.

One, IT's an AMD CPU. They all suck I dont care. All "Built-In" Gpus are horrible. Good luck gaming on stuff like GTA ect. You do NOT need and SSD for a$900 build. Plus a new Mobo so you dont gotta upgrade BIOs

By CPU + GPU you mean Intel CPU + GPU right?

Why?

Cause every fucking consumer grade intel chip is an apu...

No it doesn't have to be Intel, well I prefer Intel though.... AMD is still alright to me.

AMD makes some great GPUs but there CPUs are outdated and in no way shape or form compare with Intels. There GPUs compete with Nvidia and thank god it's one reason the Titan X isn't like $2000 or the GTX 980 isn't $1000. I have an old crappy A6-3560 lol I can't hate to much.

Their 860k is really good...

And let me see (BTW this is irrelevant to real world performance)

Who holds the world record for the fastest CPU?

Not intels latest has well cpua.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9rpknQ

I build many custom computers and the AMD APUs aren't bad for what they are.  Light gaming or gaming on older titles while at 1080p they're not a bad value and you can run the APU in crossfire with an R7 240, R7 250 or R7 260x.  I personally built one in a Prodigy case with crossfire to an R7 250 and the client was very happy.

That said, for your budget, you could probably swing an Intel G3258 and a GTX 750Ti or maybe gtx 960 or R9 265, R9 270x or R9 285.  In any case, you should bump that PSU up to at least a 500w to give yourself a little headroom for expansion.  Back to the G3258 plug, it's unlocked and super easy to OC.  It's nothing to get 4.2 or 4.5GHz out of this CPU (4.0GHz on the stock cooler even with good temps).  I personally have three of these builds for sale right now and here's a couple just to give you some ideas:

And to show AMD some love, here's a comparable AMD FX-6300 setup:  http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/syd/5018731915.html
