Hey guys,

Today I picked up a used 840 EVO to use in a raid array, I had the exact same drive before and I want to run a RAID 0 array.

When I tried to set up the array only one disk showed up as a member disk, the other was listed as incompatible. Then I tried to format both drives using my laptop, this was completed and I had two separate drives, but it still didn't want to initialise the array. Using the windows install disk I ran the diskpart -> clean command, and it returned an error: "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. see the system event log for more information."

Now I'm lost and I don't know how to fix this. Can anyone help me?

System:

windows 8.1

Intel core I7 3770K

Asrock fatal1ty z77 professional

corsair vengeance 16GB 1866

club3d hd7970

nzxt hale90 850W

2x Samsung 840 EVO

WD green 2tb

Thanks in advance for any advice given,

Pim

Try switching out the SATA cable for a different one or using another port if possible. Also, is the used SSD functional? Like have you written data to it?

Hey pimiboj,

Since it worked on a different SATA port, try checking of the other drive would work on the first port that you had trouble with. Try different combinations. Do you have only two SATA 3 (6Gb/s) ports?
