Is my old wireless mouse USB dongle still of use?

Hey, so i found my old wireless mouse that i dont use anymore, and i was thinking if i might be able to use the USB dongle that came with it for other wireless things? I was thinking maybe for my PS3 controller or something? :)

They are generally device specific, otherwise there would be a lot of interference from other devices.
