Hello everyone. I have to ask a few questions on stress testing.

1. What are the best CPU and GPU stress programs?

2. How long should I run the tests?

3. Are there other tests I should run on the system?

4. Also what kind of numbers am I trying to shoot for?

5. Last question, will these stress programs close themselves out if the system can't handle it?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just gonna be building my PC soon, and I wanna get the questions out now.

1. OCCT/AIDA64 for CPUs and Heaven/Valley for GPUs.

2. For a stable CPU OC you should run a couple hours, like 3-4 at least. For GPU just a few runs. Like 1hr.

3. Not really. you could benchmark the harddrives/ssds and see if they are 100% ok.

4. ?!

5. Depends. When your CPU overheats A LOT it will shutdown by itself. In OCCT you can set a target temp that ends the test. When your OC is unstable for example, it will just crash/BSOD.

WIth unstable GPU overclocks you first get artifacts and later it will crash.

1. CPU - Aida64 and Cinebench GPU - Unigine Heaven/Valley and some games. Firestrike Extreme for OC testing.

You don't really need to stress the GPU, as it's not something that will happen often. Just running real world loads on it is fine.

2. A few hours on the CPU. Not long on GPU. Maybe an hour or so on A Heaven/Valley Loop.

3. Not really. You could bench the Drives, but they tend not to be an issue.

4. You're not really looking for numbers. Maybe Temps, but staying below 85C on both CPU and GPU is a general idea.

5. If it gets too hot, the system will shut down to protect itself. There's very little risk of damage to components unless you're adjusting voltages like a mad man.

I really appreciate that.
