So really, by comparison, Cherry MX Red can get defective just as much as Kailh switches? I have kinda a heavy weight hand, meaning I kinda push harder then needed on certain keys by I don't do it on purpose, when I game and when playing World of Tanks, you use the W a lot to drive. Would Cherry Red stand up longer then the Kailh switches? Or are they all prone to wear out?

I'm not sure really since I have not tested both switches for longevity. I think maybe /rmechanialkeyboards could probably answer that question better :P

Judging that there are not 100000 people complaining that their Kalih switches have failed, I would say that they are supposed to last a while and that you are probably unlucky

red switches are linear so you get no feed back when you type so you wouldn't notice if the bump was gone because it was never there. Brown switches have a bump and blue switched have a bump and make a click sound. As I recall razer makes green switches which are cherry mx blue clones and orange switches which are cherry max brown clones.

I'm typing on black switched that I got out of a keyboard that was more then likely used in a police car for years before I got it with out any problems and I'm making a keyboard with vintage cherry mx black switched that were made around 1985 and expect no problems from them but anything can fail and defective parts can make it into keyboards.

To the both of you.

As my mom always say to me "It's a computer, it's to be expected" in this case, it's a keyboard. Since Razer seems to be willing to honor their warranty I'll take advantage of it while I can and see if I can get an extended Warranty for future need.

definitely take advantage of the warranty if you can if for no other reason then you can sell the keyboard to get some money to buying a different keyboard if you decide you want to do that later.

Yes, good choice to take the warranty.

If the Kailh switches really bother you then this sounds like a good option. People love the keyboard you have so I doubt you'd have a problem selling it. I don't think you really need to though, totally up to you :)

Sounds like your slider is stuck.

The Razer green has a slider on the stem, it falls when the switch is actuated creating the click.

It's probably just stuck in the up position. It doesn't affect functionality at all, it should even feel exactly the same, it just doesn't click.w

Yeah I mean it still feels normal and I really don't even notice anything. Is there a way to fix this "slider" myself?

Well it'll probably void your warranty, but it should be impossible to tell if you do it right.

You just have to pull the switch apart, and check the slider. This'll require soldering, so i don't recommend it. It'll be hard to tell you voided your warranty, but they'll know if they look.

So the smarter safer thing to do is just see what they offer under the Warranty.

I guess the real worry would be if it stop responding, but it hasn't. Warranties are nice. :P

What i would do is tell them, so it's documented. Then RMA it a few weeks before warranty is up, just in case.
