Is it worth the wait?

Im currently planning to build new PC very soon and im thinking about buying i7 4790K, but im now wondering maybe its worth to wait for 5th gen i7 cpus with lga1150 sockets? What do you guys think?

Nope. If Broadwell Desktop even launches, it will just be power improvements. Skylake will be the one to go for, but it's still a little while off, so there's no point in waiting.

Its defiantly worth the wait. since the boards start shipping this month, The CPUs are not far off. Wait for the 5th Generation.

I agree with Oshinos point regarding very minor improvements, In response to this I would say if your in patient then go for it the 4790k is a great chip to have.

I don't think there would be much performance improvement, however their tdp might be lower.

But, I've heard, that newer cpu's gonna use 1151 socket.

Well... It might be worth the wait because there are usually slight price drops on previous generation of CPUs when the new one comes out (emphasis on "slight")

Might be worth it if there is a good implementation of pci-e based connectivity (SFF-8639 or similar) for NVMe based drives, but I have a feeling that will be Skylake at earliest.

 

What are you running on now?

Also what uses?
