So I have a old( not really ) PC that I want to turn to a NAS. But can it still run windows 7 and function as a normal PC. My GF uses this computer but rarely so I want it to retain the functionality or else I wont do it. It has one 2 TB HDD in it so If I partitioned it could I set aside say 500 gigs to the main system and the other 1500 more er less to the NAS. I don't have any experience doing any NAS or major networking things so any advice or pointing me in a good direction or even better yet a video somebody made thoroughly explaining it would be amazing!

Partitioning sounds like a good plan. Just do that and create a single folder under that called MyNas, or something... right click -> Properties -> share.

Also if you want everyone to access the share make sure click,  advanced settings after -> Permissions ->Add and type everyone, Check boxes according full control.

Easy enough to create a simple share for home use.
