Chrome upgrade question.

Go to solution Solved by ChaseB,

The 64-bit version of Chrome is the developer version. It installs alongside your normal Chrome anyways. So the answer is yes, it will install alongside your current copy.

I think Chrome is 32 bit. There are dev chrome builds that have 64

So somehow ninenite downloaded all my programs in 32 bit. I was wondering if I were to download Chrome 64 bit from the chrome website if it will overwrite the 32 bit program or do I have to uninstall Chrome and re installing it.

Yes. Much like a 32-bit OS, programs are limited to around 4GB of RAM. That isn't much of an issue for a normal browser user though. If you're hitting that, your best interest is to close a few of your tabs. :-)

I'm not too sure, actually. In regards to its stability? I ran it for a few months last year, and never had a problem with it. I don't use it anymore though, but there's no reason not to. I just never got around to re-installing it.

I'm not so sure about that. I'm running Chrome 32 bit and I opened a sum of tabs. Went from 5.68gb to 12.1gb used. If I opened more tabs it would go up.

EDIT: Technically you might be right, now that I think about it, Chrome usually assigns each tab as a different task so I'm guessing there is a 4gb limit for each 32 bit task.
