LGA 775 --> 1155 Socket Performance Gains

Duffman

Next week im upgrading my rig to 1155 socket.

I'm wondering how much of a performance gain i will see keeping my current video card with the new socket, in terms of gaming fps.

Im planning on upgrading PSU and getting a 660ti in the near future but not right now.

Upgrade Specs:

Intel i5 3470

Gigabyte Z77X-D3H

Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 8Gb

My Current Rig Specs:

Q6600 @ 3.1Ghz

Gigabyte EP31-DS3L

4Gb DDR2

Asus 550ti

Seasonic S12ii 520W

WD Green 500Gb

You will most likey get a big performance increase in new games but if you can strech your budget alittle i would recommend a ssd if you dont have one its probably what will increase the overall performance of your computer the most

I've looked at SSD's. My opinion is, im not worried about loading times for games, my computer gets turned of maybe once a week (usually put in sleep mode).

So im not fussed on waiting a whole 1min for my computer to boot. I would want a large capacity SSD but the price point isnt worth the extra cost to me at the moment.

With the motherboard i have choosen i could get a mSATA 1.8inch SSD for caching. But if im paying for one of them i might aswell get a SSD.

Thanks for the advice : )
