so i was just thinking, incase in the future i would go to a lan or something it would be sweet to have a small build so i dont have to bring my 750d beast.

i have a dual 970 setup, so i will be "borrowing" one of those for the lan pc.

otherwise

how can i get away way cheaper than this, http://pcpartpicker.com/p/c8RMxrbut, for equal or similar performance?

note: i just picked some parts, inb4 overkill

Get cheaper MBO and at least 550W PSU, you can save some money bay getting air cooler as well, watercoolers are not recommended for LAN rigs anyway.

the offers of mitx boards are so bad.. and the psu should be sufficient according to pcpartpicker, you know the 970 doesnt pull much at all.

why not? wouldnt the bad airflow in a small build compromise the aircooler?

PCpartpicker tells you roughly how much power will your system draw, take into account OC and also keep headroom, 550-650W is ideal for your system.

Watercooling isn't ideal if you move your PC a lot but you should be fine with AiO if you are carefull.

true, but it says 292w, which means a 400 gives me at least 75-80w headroom(edit:to oc on that is). ok, i see that a 450-500 would be better, but a 650 for this is a little overkill :P

i run a 5930k and dual 970 on a 850w which is mor than enough

yeah id be careful :P

100-150W headroom after OC is ideal.
