Yeah. What are the files?

These are the files that were moved to the virus chest. Seems like the file was trying to re-create itself after Avast blocked it, and it just kept getting blocked. Might be a false positive. This is my weakest area so I'm not sure what other information I should provide.

It sounds like a false positive, I would recommend scanning with MBAM (MalwareBytes) and see if that flags it as malware, if it doesn't then unquarantine it and ignore what Avast says.

I don't particularly like Avast, but if you want to keep using it then that's up to you, but just be careful, you may find your system completely borked because of it quarantining an important file.

this i never heard anyone actually say anything really good about avast it usually after somewhile either shits your computer by destroying important files because it thinks they are infected when they are not or some other shit it has done. few of my friends had differend problems like cpu usage going to 99% when idle and deleting avast fixed it and one where avast was using hdd all the time making navigating the computers hdd a pain in the ass.

  • 4 months later...

Hi guys,

I am a newbie at technology so please bear with me. I suspect that my system may have a bad, well, thingy. Rootkit or whatever (perhaps malware or keylogger, etc.). It could also just be me being too paranoid... But anyways, could someone recommend me a reliable piece of software to detect it on my system? My OS is Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 - I know about Macs not having viruses (or maybe only a few compared to Windows), but I'm pretty sure as the number of Mac users increase, the number of viruses for Mac will naturally increase. Thanks for your help! :)
