Little help needed in "debugging" build

Go to solution Solved by CalumGiff,

Hi yeah I bought one , should arrive today, sorry I called it tester but is actually an analog multimeter, so  you think that the PSU might actually be the problem?

From the information you have given then yes, but that still doesn't necessarily mean it is the problem. Deff worth a look though

Hi there.

Couple of moths ago I built my first custom build pc, whit a lot of help from this awesome community. Everything went nice and smooth and worked out of the box.

Then after a little I started having problem on switching on the computer, took several tries or sometimes I had to un-plug the power chord and plug it back in.

I thought it was windows "wake up after sleep" problem but after removing all those options problem persist, now the problem got works and now make the computer to switch on

is a true epic mission. I am trying to figure out what the problem is, I removed the two graphic card, removed overclocking unplugged pump (cpu watercooling) removing banks of ram and

combination of those , problem is the same. Now in the past we had problem with the electricity in the house like in the heaving lights wont turn on etc, but we got the landlord to fix that.

The only two ideas I have so fare are the following

1) Tensions drops in my electrical line that give hard time switch on, I order a tester to check that and let see if that is the actual problem , even tho the AX750 gold from corsair i have

works between 100 and 265 V so i doubt that s the problem

2) Might be a defective PSU? I checked that now when I turn the psu on the leds on the graphic card ( the power ones) light up but usually the PSU was used to give a small spin to its fan when it was turning on,

that doesn't happen anymore , how can I troubles shoot the PSU and actually know if that is the problem?

Any other idea about the problem? How would you guys go about troubleshooting that?

PS: once the pc turn on works like a charm, goes for days , I can play etc not a problem and works really well.

HI by doing some "isolation" tests looks like the  PSU is causing the problem, I was left with pretty much only one bank of ram, cpu , mobo and PSU plugged in and was not starting, i took out an old PSU from a back up pc  and sticked it in and started first try. I contacted the shop (scan.co.uk) and I am going to send it back  and they will give back a new one.

Thanks for the help.
