Windows 8 and Razer Synapse

I encountered an interesting problem last night on my Windows 8 PC.

 

After installing Synapse 2.0 for my blackwidow, I restarted the computer.  This caused the start screen (metro) to be frozen i.e. couldn't move the tiles and also for none of my other drivers to load except for Logitech setpoint, which crashed shortly afterwards.

 

1st attempt at solution: uninstall Synapse-- unsuccessful

2nd attempt: reinstall windows while keeping all my stuff -- unsuccessful

3rd and final: "Refreshing" windows -- successful

 

I have reinstalled all my drivers BUT synapse and haven't encountered the same issues yet. No viruses or malware either.

 

Anyone else experienced something similar to this with Razer Synapse??

I've not had any problems with synapse 2.0 on my windows 8 machine. It runs smooth for me.
