Hey, I made a post the other day about my pc restarting. My CPU is stable all day long, but on the first boot up of the day it will restart and go to the bios and It tells me about a boot error. Anyways, I am going to the PC store and I can buy something in hopes of fixing the issue. The most obvious choice is the cpu or motherboard, but that's my last resort.

Some people say PSU issues, so I am thinking of buying one of those. What do you guys think?

To start off with, what is the actual error message?

If you power down the system and switch off the psu (switch on the back). Then power it up a few minutes later, do you get the boot error?

probably not, it only happens if you turn off the pc for a few hours

and I don't get an error, it always just says "There is an error with the boot configuration blah blah, there may be a bios misconfiguration with the current settings"

something along those lines

"Probably not" doesn't really cut it when problem solving. Either it does or it doesn't.

"blah blah" is also not helpful.

Do you need to change any BIOS settings before it will reboot?

Well sorry, I don't want to spend the next 6 hours without a computer to make the error come back and find the actual error message, I have to go to the store in a few hours

the one I put states all that was in the error

and no, it asks me if I want to use optimized settings and reboot but I have tried that so many times to no avail

What I asked to be tested would take 10 minutes, tops.

Regardless, the issue is likely either the motherboard battery or the motherboard BIOS storage. Check that the battery is well seated. If it is, you might try replacing the battery with a new one. Otherwise you will need to replace the motherboard. Is it still under warranty?

yes, I bought it only a few months ago. I'll look at the battery in a bit, but do you think the psu could have anything to do with it or was that why you asked me to test it?

It is possible that the psu could be contributing to the problem. But I can't figure out how that might be.

If the motherboard is only a few months ago, don't bother to replace the battery. Check that it is well seated. If it is, the problem is most likely something on the motherboard.

You may want to submit a tech support ticket with Gigabyte. They may have a better answer.

Bought a new PSU and it didn't do much, still got the restart. Submitted a ticket to Gigabyte :(

Too bad.

Is the motherboard running the latest BIOS?

Yep, but I just noticed something VERY weird. On Saturday, Sunday, and Friday, the restart issue does not occur. It only happens on the week days. What could this mean?

I'll test it out, but another oddity happened. It didn't have the issue the whole weekend, but it happened monday. However, it didn't happen today.

Powered off for 25-30 min and came back, and the restart did not happen. Not sure what this means though speaking I didn't receive a restart earlier today

You might try again the next time it happens.

Any word from Gigabyte?

They aren't being helpful at all. They've sent 5 replies, all of which have been "try only one ram stick" "only one gpu" "new psu"

I've done all of these things and have said I have done them, but they just keep getting me to try stuff instead of helping
