CHEAP workstation for school

I need help designing a low price workstation.

I'm thinking I'll go with an FX-8320 and 12GB of ram.

This is NOT a gaming build, but what would be a good GPU to pair with the 8320? I'd prefer a radeon GPU, but I'll accept a Geforce if it's a better value.

This is not a place for fanboyism, this is a place for raw parallel compute power, for as cheap as possible.

Old Systems: A6 5200 APU -- A10 7800K + HD6670 -- FX 9370 + 2X R9 290 -- G3258 + R9 280 -- 4690K + RX480
