Hey there,

Short background: I use my Xonar Card to power my Headphones and a Surround Receiver (when using the TV), but also got a small SMSL amp plugged into my Mobo-Soundcard for stereo sound with Speakers at my desk. Now I usually switch between the two playback devices in the Audio Manager. From my school days however, I remember that there were two shortcuts on the desktop to change the screen resoltuion from 800x600 to 1280x1024 - hence change Windows settings via a shortcut / batch file. Anybody knows, if something similar would be possible for playback devices? I'm a programmer, but have never done anything with batch files. Any input if / how that might be possible?

Best regards

Since this is a forum, might as well post some solutions right here:

Edit: there even is a standalone tool for this: http://soundswitch.codeplex.com/releases/view/68935 though I personally like the solution of the first link. Quick and easy, took me about five minutes. Definitely have to dig deeper into this, there are quite a few nice things one could automate with this :)
