I am very inexperienced when it comes to building pcs (but very knowledgable about), I've built one desktop, my brother's, which was also a high end gaming desktop. I have an ASUS ROG laptop as a gift, have to check up on which one, but since I spent the money I saved for my desktop on making it mine instead of sharing it with my brother. As you could probably guess, I'm 15. Here's my filled out template for this forum section:

1. Budget & Location
Location: US

Part List: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Infinity577X/saved/Wbgqqs

Budget: not really specified.

2. Aim
My goal is to make this desktop succeed in every category, anything from heavy video editing to insane multi-tasking. I'm mainly going to be gaming and I want the best possible temps, I was going to work on my fan configuration after I got a feel for what I could do with the case, I'd rather see it all for myself than watch a video on it. I want to see ALL the possible places I can put fans, as an example, if possible I plan on putting an intake fan on the left side of the hard drive tray. I don't really have the capacity to get it because I don't have a dime as of now and I'm likely not getting any money at all over the summer unless I get a job. This build is mainly a dream of mine, I'd like to build as many desktops as possible, even if they are the cheapest they can be so I can see how capable I am at building and modifying them. I just want to see how well I did with picking the parts and what recommendations I'll get. I'd love to build computers as a hobby and occupation, but I have limits of course, the biggest being funds.

3. Monitors
I plan on using one monitor mostly at first, then upgrading. I don't really need any resolutions above 1080 for now, but I may upgrade to a 4K compatible pc.

4. Peripherals
The OS and peripherals are in the part list at #1

5. Why are you upgrading?
laptops burn out much quicker due to the compression of heat and are extensively less customizable and upgradable. This makes them much less reliable. They aren's nearly as good for gaming because they may be able to reach ultra graphics with 60 fps or more, but they run especially hot and loud. With desktops, they are much sturdier, efficient, and don't get outdated easily (can be upgraded). I'd much rather have a desktop as my primary computer. Judge if you want, I'd spend a lot to build a desktop.

I would swap it out the 980 to SLI 970's.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

I would say just spend about 800$ on the PC and save the rest for college.

Yea Ill probably add to my laptop instead, monitor, keyboard, mouse, cooling pad etc. because I cant see mess on that small screen, but like I said desktop was just an idea.

SSD?

I have a 250Gb SSD in that laptop I can put in it, I already did it with a 500Gb HDD in my brother's desktop.
