Hello All! I Am New to this forum and I am Looking To Build A PC I had X99 plat. Build in my mind but some hardware enthusiasts told me not to go for that as there's only 10% increase in performance over 4790k and has higher TDP than that (which is true) so I was looking to build the following system,

Processor: Intel Core i7 4790k

Cooler: Corsair H100i

Ram: 4 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance Pro

Motherboard: MSI Gaming Z97M

Chassis: Bitfenix Prodigy M

PSU: EVGA Supernova 1000 G2

HDD: WD 2TB Black

SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB

GPU: Now this is the part where I am confused I am Getting a very good deal on 2x GTX 970 with titan blowers but that 3.5GB Shit has got me confused as I will be gaming, Do Renders on After effects, 3DS Max, post production at 1440p so I will require a full 4GB or more GPU but the build is for gaming mainly so tell me should I go for 2x GTX 970 and use them both with their super slow 0.5GB chunk as I want 60fps on All Games Maxed out as I can't live with low fps [emoji14] or get a GTX 980 or wait for r9 390x/GTX 980 Ti ? :S and is my next build good for renders and gaming at 1440p ? :S

P.S: Only Canadian Links for suggestions.

Are you sure you need a 4790K and 16GB of RAM for gaming?

Also, VRAM in SLI DOES NOT stack. So go for a 2 x 290X or 980 if you want 1440p gaming

 My Buyer’s Guide!

Build:

it's not for gaming only I will do video editing etc. And other heavy tasks too. And I know vram does not stack up but AFAIK it'll when win 10 is released.

Heavy tasks? How heavy are you talking?

Unless you're doing huge multi-tasking whilst rendering and editing big videos. a 4790K isn't that necessary. The 4790K is a powerful processor. And it's full potential can only be utilized by pushing it to the limit. You can get a 4690K and get a super kick ass GPU or something along those lines.

Just because vram stacking is rumored is no reason to make a system that absolutely requires it to get good performance.

Yes like playing bf4/GTA 5 maxed out at 1440p while rendering a 1h long videos, + I had 4670k oc'ed at 4.5GHz and it wasn't that great for rendering.

I know I probably grabbed your budget, kicked it's head in and sat on it. But y'know. All worth it in the end.

No atx build, I want to avoid huge PCs as I don't have too much space + I go to lan parties too.

Well, there's always the 250D if you want to go that small.

+ if i5 4690k can do this:

Yes like playing bf4/GTA 5 maxed out at 1440p while rendering a 1h long videos, + I had 4670k oc'ed at 4.5GHz and it wasn't that great for rendering.

Then I will go for it.

Yeah it should be able to do it. If it is having trouble just overclock that monster. You have the board and cooling to do it.

As I said, if it's starting to have trouble just OC it.

What do you think about corsair 240 ?

Haven't had a lot of experience with it. It looks alright though. I'd still go with the 250D but it's up to you.

I've now decided to go for a single GTX 980.

PNY cause it has reference cooler [emoji14]. And Can you give me a link of benchmark showing GTX 980 can run any game at ultra at 1440p and at 60fps ?

I don't need to show you benchmarks to prove that it can do what you need. It's about a $700 AUD video card. If it didn't do that it wouldn't be as popular as it is....

HERE ARE SOME ANYWAY!

Cause it looks cool, performs better in small chassis and in future I might sli it.

It does not perform better in small chassis. You don't need a reference card to SLI it. Reference is also really loud. Much louder than any other cooler. And it will get hotter due to lack of cooling fans.

Good ones:

Trust me reference is cool, but not as good as it's made out to be.

According to benchmarks on Anandtech and tomshardware 4790k (stock) performs better than a overclocked 4690k at 4.7GHz while oc'ed 4790k is alot better than 4690k. So what's ur say on this one ? Do keep my requirement which is fast renders in mind.
