Would this build work?

Go to solution Solved by RightfulNerd,

Really try and get an unlocked processor so that in the future you can overclock for extra performance and maybe a bigger psu for the graphics card. Apart from that everything else seems good.

Just found out a 750w is minimum

Might need a slightly better PSU and consider picking a 280x

Mobo: Gigabyte 970A-DS3P CPU: AMD FX 8350 RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 8gb (2x4gb@1600Mhz) GPU: Gigabyte R9 280x (factory oc) PSU: Thermaltake SmartSE 730w Case: Corsair 200R

Really dont cheap out on the psu the worst thing you want is your system to die and everything to become drink coasters :)

you dont have to go corsair as they have a premium price but this is a psu I personally have and its excellent

thats in usd though forgot to mention, its in aud, also, are fractal design psus good?

Yeah they are okay just look for 80 plus gold recommendations and look at reviews.

One bit of advice don't buy everything from one store I know its good for convenience but if you shop around you may get better deals.

This one would be a better pick as I can find no reviews of the unit you picked. (it is a bit more expensive ($49) but much more of a safe buy and Gold certified)

And here is a review of the unit I suggested.

Yeah, but the budget wont allow it, its right on the edge at the moment. Is the psu I found good though, reviews seem to say it is.

Could you link me some of those reviews as I could not find any. The only write up that I could find were customer type reviews (which are only good for longevity type questions) A good reviewer of power supplies has a variable load test rig and an oscilloscope to test for ripple and hold up time (also line noise).

While I was unable to find a review that was for that specific wattage psu there are reviews of lower wattage units, they are decently constructed by channelwell and had good reviews on everything but cap's (they used a cheaper cap for one section) Review of the G550M is here.

Even tho this is not the same exact unit, you could believe that your higher rated unit would test out about the same. (although, that does not always happen)
