Hey guys i did changed my summer oc for my 4670k to 4.2ghz with 1.181vcore, and i set my xmp profile for my ram. This overclock (after stress testing and games) resulted in maximum temperature of 58c which i know is perfect. Quick question for you guys: I left the uncore ratio at default (3.40ghz) because when i was doing it 1:1 it bsod twice while playing games. Should i try and increase the uncore ratio or leave it at default because i use my rig 100% for gaming.

I have mine at 3.8GHz and 1.110v. Could probably drop the voltage a bit but havent gotten around to tinkering with the uncore that much. And with the core frequency at 4.3GHz, the CPU performance is really decent overall.

If your rig is 100% for gaming the cache clock should be inconsequential for your experience. If you were trying to encode a massive amount of 4k videos I'd say you could squeeze some more performance out of OCing the cache. For your case you'll be completely happy leaving the cache at stock. :D

on the advice of @Faceman i manually set my uncore ratio and uncore voltage to stock.he told me that when he manual set his uncore to stock settings was when his overclock really took off. i believe him. last night i was stable at 4.4 ghz at 1.165 volts, moving up to 4.5 today after running some errands.

Uncore isn't important when overclocking, except for maybe benchmarks.  Core is king, and uncore usually causes instability issues.

 

My i5-4670k overclocking really took off when I set my uncore to min=38, max = 38, adaptive voltage = 1.000.  From there, my overclocking went to the next level, but as always, your results may vary.  I do recommend giving it a try at the very least.
