Linux Mint Program Suggestions

I'm looking for a good text editor, and will be using it for some basic coding, and just general text editing/creation use, as well as a solid video and music player. Also, I'm looking for some other useful programs for Mint, and will also take suggestions on anything else related to Linux Mint: I'll be monitoring this thread for a while, so if you have any questions you can ask and I'll try my best to answer it! Thanks in advance! I should also probably say that I'm running the Cinnamon desktop environment.
