Right now im at 1.358v and 4.7ghz and stable, intel etu stress test max was 83 but averaged at 78Cish

I try going to 4.8ghz and no matter how much voltage i throw at it (tired up to 1.45) it does not get stable at 4.8

Im using a Gigabyte Z87N WIFI with 8GB (2x4gb) of Kingston Hyperx Beast at 2400mhz. What if i downclock my RAM to oh like 1866? could that help me out? Or maybe i lost the silicon lottery :P

Ive been an AMD overclocker and im used to throwing more voltage at it and eventually getting stable (I hit 5.3Ghz on my 8350)

You should never go past 1.3v

Intel ARK says 1.52 is the max and i am well under that and i am also well under the max temp they suggest too.

The max recommended temp is actually 73c

Ooops my bad somehow i thought it was 93... i guess thats why i can get a higher OC :P

You should never go past 1.3v

It's fine if temps are low and watercooled but otherwise, you're right.

Im using an H100 and going to put my H110 in the rig soon so i should get some much lower temps.

The 4670k max Tcase that Intel specs is 72.72c so for all intents and purposes if you're going past 73 'you pays your money you takes your chance'.

Check what your software monitor is reading because the core temps will be lower comparatively at most given tcase readings. If you're hitting 83c Tcase then it's your call, I would personally back off until you got to at least 76, if now lower.

I'm a little more conservative however, I prefer my stuff to last a long while, or so I can pass it onto someone else in good conscience. If you don't care yolo, then as long as you're not getting crashes or related errors, I supposed you would be fine in short term.

Pretty sure 1.52 is the maximum air/water core voltage with Ivy Bridge. 1.52v on the core seems risky for haswell.  http://www.overclock.net/t/1401976/the-gigabyte-z87-haswell-overclocking-oc-guide
