Hey everyone,

I'm planning on doing a build for my living room TV, so what it has to do is basically replace consoles and replace my HTPC. I can recycle the components from the HTPC if needed but the requirements for this new build is essentially, surround sound, ability to play on high - ultra for most games.

The games that I'm referring to are mainly those single player story based games, like Metro 2033, Need For Speed, Halo, Max Payne, Grand Theft Auto and Battlefield. If the computer can play these games, then it'll have no problems streaming from my home server.

I currently have parts that I can reuse:

CPU: AMD A6-5400K

Motherboard: MSI FM2-A55M-E33

RAM: Team Elite 1333Mhz 4GB (2x2GB)

GPU: None.

PSU: Antec VP450P

Case: Some Chinese HTPC Case, ATX Form Factor.

HDD: Some random 140GB HDD laying around.

I can buy Windows 8 for pretty much 0.8USD here in China, all genuine keys haha.

I have a budget of 650USD and am flexible and I can try to trade in stuff to make it stuff like CPU cheaper. I honestly am looking at the stuff for best bang for buck and silence obviously.

You'll need faster ram than just 1333MHz, go with at least 1866MHz, try to find some 2400MHz ram if you can, you'll see impressive performance gains,

Available from 3pm to Midnight Eastern Time (GMT-5). (>'-')> <('-'<) ^(' - ')^ <('-'<) (>'-')> You can't stop the kirby dance.

Just get a 7850: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-1003551gocl

and a samsung 840 for better speeds: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7td120bw

You might want some extra storage but that's up to you: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seagate-internal-hard-drive-st1000dm003

The 7850 overclocks like a champ and you should be able to play the game you mentioned at high/ultra settings at around 40-60fps.

A 7870 is pretty much the same price as a 7850 here, so I'll just go for the 7870. As for the CPU won't it limit the GPU's power?

There should be a bottleneck but you could overclock your cpu to lessen that.

You should probably get a 750K since games are using more cores now: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-cpu-ad750kwohjbox
