I'm looking for a graphics Card Today that will be a decent match to a 4690K on a Asus Maximus Z97 inpact m-itx board

I have 2 cards that seem to be a decent choice and personally im leaning toward the R9 290 because its $50.00 cheaper

290X is faster in some games but the Asus flavour gets pretty loud...

970.

While I have owned both a 970 and 290x and the performance difference to the naked eye is nonexistent the Asus 290x is a shockingly poor design that does hardly better than the reference card. If you must keep to colour restrictions try and find a Gigabyte 290x, an MSI one or a PoeerColour PCS+ one (though it's two and a half slot design might be an issue for mITX).

If you can find one of these $50 cheaper than a 970 it's worth it. Otherwise just get a 970 (preferably Gigabyte or MSI though)

Asus 290x has cooler from gtx 780, so the card tends to run hot ( close to reference ).

Well these are all good things to know I think I'm going to go with the strix 970 I found one for 287.00

If you can, get like MSI twin frozer or EVGA sc. Sometimes strix can be limited because it only has one 8-pin.

lol nice joke im getting 1502mhz gpu and 8000 memory mhz

It has a single 8 pin power connector

I'm sorry if you fail to understand how this would cause throttling and make it significantly worse at overclocking than a GPU like the Gigabyte 970 G1 that has a 8 pin AND a 6 pin power connector...
