Hello, so I've been watching Linus techtips for quite some time now, I consider myself decent when it comes to reading hardware specs and finding upgrades. But since I don't make a fortune I'd like my upgrades to matter, and to last for more than one month. Right now I'm thinking of upgrading my CPU, Motherboard and RAM. For what I use my PC for, I mostly play game such as Diablo3, LoL, SC2. But ever since GTA5 got released I've found the need for a higher preforming PC. I'd like som thought on this: if it's even worth investing or if there is better way of improving my PC.

Thanks in advanged for your time.

if you want to upgrade and you want it to be worth while then get a gtx 980 or crossfire 780 the cpu would not matter also the motherboard would only inpact cpu overclocks and ram 8gb is enough for all AAA games right on the market

You would think Ubisoft would support the Bulldozer based architectures more given their digging themed names like bulldozer, Piledriver, Steamroller and Excavator.

Now I've heard RAM is one of the upgrades I'm going to feel the least. BUt I quite often see that I'm using 6 GB. I*ve found

Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Elite 1866Mhz 8GB VS Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Tactical 8GB.

Now I can't see on either of them if they are dual-channel, but I'm guessing most RAM is today? do you guys have any Idea which RAM I should look for if I would like to upgrade to 16GB?

2500K eh? Slap a good cooler on there and crank it up a GHz or so. Even now those Sandy Bridge chips have a ton of life left in them. Your 780 is a damn good card still too, but you could definitely upgrade to a 980 and see a good boost.

Otherwise there's not much else you can do that would be worth the money. There's no point in you upgrading to Haswell but maybe Skylake or (god willing) Zen when they come out will be worth a look for you.

I had my old 2500K at 4.6 24/7 with CF'd 5850s. Absolutely loved that setup.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

Right now I have a closed watercooling system on it.  - Corsair Hydro H870, I've never done overclocking, any guides on this perhaps and easy and failfree way of setting it up?
