Need just a bit of help

My friend has been having an issue with his sound and i cant figure it out, he has a sabertooth 990fx r2.0 motherboard which has the realtek alc 892 driver, we uninstalled and reinstalled both from his motherboard driver disk and a direct download as well, hes checked the back i/o and made sure the headset was plugged in correctly as well as trying another headset. we also tried the front panel. nothing is registering when he plugs it in, any advice?

This might not work but try this.

Right click on the little speaker next to the time/date, select Playback Devices.

Right click on Realtek High Def Audio and select Set as Default Device.

is this a new build? if so i would check the motherboard and make sure the sound pins on the motherboard for audio is properly seated. (had them pop out once on my old motherboard when i accidently hit the case with my leg.)

this is a build that has been running for about 3 months. the audio is not disabled , but its still not picking anything up, he emailed asus and they believe its a bad sound card possibly even the controller.

from what i read, it sounds like a bad controller

check the device manager to see if realtek sound is there.

if it's not there I'd probably say either RMA the motherboard or buy a pci(e) sound card.

By the way we did fix the issue, it was a bad controller, and he didnt have the time to RMA, he couldnt have the down time. We ended up buying a dedicated sound card. thanks for the help anyways guys!
