- Win7 64bit

- H97M anniversary (asrock)

- Enermax Naxn 500W

- GTX 970 OC Strix (Asus)

- I5 4460

- 2 monitors (if that helps) , one on 1920x1080 and the other on 1680x1050

The problem:

I just got a beauty Gtx 970 and i don't get the fps i expected, i mean i can play the games but i get fps drops, and i think it is because of the CPU. I really want to get a 250gb SSD if that helps, reinstalling OS and formatting whole HDD + games on the ssd will help?

The CPU can go up on usage even when browsing on the net, and in games like GTA V or Cod AW it goes from 50 to 100 randomly. The GPU is nice, i think about 30-40% usage and ~40 degrees (celsius).

This was in GTA 5 i think (it was running on my main full hd monitor)

Forgot to mention Linus's videos are so good and they helped me so much

Check your background processes. What other processes do you have running? Make sure that you don't have a gaming app (Like Raptr) that is running while you play these games, as it could be starting up a process that is poorly optimize.

i don't have such programs i think, i will get a ssd soon anyways, now it seems ok, ~85-90 fps in cod aw and over 50 in gta 5, and the gpu usage is now even over 60-70% and temp ~50 celsius
