$800 Gaming Build

Go to solution Solved by IMPERIUS,

Great build, go with it.

Hey,

So this is going to be my first build so bear with me. I'd like the system itself to be as close to $800 as possible since I do need to add Windows 8 to that. The system will be used for gaming and school with a single 1080p monitor so that shouldn't be a big issue. I'd prefer if you used parts from the canadian ncix website or canada computers website because those two are the most convenient for me; however if you see an online deal that is too hard to pass up feel free to post it.  So i've rounded up a my own parts list below considering there are a quite a few sales on right now. I'm debating between the 960 and 285x and looking to try and shave a few dollars wherever I can while still maintaining performance. Thanks in advance.

The build looks good and I'm not an expert on AMD so I can't say anything about that but the GTX 960 is pretty capable. The only concern of mine was the storage of the SSD since I have a 120GB 850 EVO but I still install everything except drivers and OS in my 2TB Caviar Black. I know you don't want your SSD to be a bottleneck but it's just gonna fill up.

CPU: i5 4690K @ Stock                GPU: Asus GTX 970 STRIX @ Stock      SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 120GB (OS and Drivers)     Headset: Audio-Technica M20X

Case: Corsair Obsidian 250D        RAM: Kingston HyperX 16GB LP             HDD: WD Caviar Black 2TB                                         Mouse: Logitech m185

OS: Windows 8.1 OEM                 PSU: Corsair RM650                                Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97N Mini ITX                         Keyboard: Corsair Gaming K65 RGB

Seems fine although I might get ram that matches the motherboard better.
