Noctua - Mounting ease took the cake for me when I made my decision to get the NH D15.

They are very similarly performing coolers, so I would buy based upon aesthetic. I will bet however that the TC14PE is going to be harder to install.

Don't really care about mounting. I just want to know which is quieter and has better performance.

Neither perform better necessarily, but the NH-D14 is definitely quieter.

But trust me, you care about mounting. You may not realize it, but big coolers are an absolute pain to install.

Are you sure? I will be installing the cooler on the mobo before putting the mobo in. And i have extremely small hands.

The D14 is slightly quieter, the PHTC14PE performs slightly better. They can be basically treated as the same down to the manufacturer and thermal paste included.

The Phanteks is a bit harder to install, but with a longer phillips screwdriver it's not bad at all.

Yeah, it's not about hand size. A lot of people for example (myself now included) complain about be quiet!'s mounting system because to be honest, it doesn't make sense.

SecuFirm is one of the best, if not the best CPU cooler mounting system on the market. It's fantastic.

Secufirm should be adopted by all air cooler manufacturers with royalties paid to Noctua in perpetuity.  I can't fathom how it could be easier to install unless you flat velcroed it to the board.  That said, it was a very important decision for me because I take my computer apart all the time to clean, try out different parts, etc.  That ease of use was an absolute dealmaker for me, especially because these things are so large that you almost have to remove them any time you're going to fiddle with RAM, CPU, cable re-routing, etc.

Consider that you probably need to plug in the 4/8pin for cpu power.

Right now you might not care and after it's in you probably won't care, but as you're working on it you will absolutely care.

That said I never take that into consideration myself and despite the frustration I never learn. Still I'd recommend doing as I say and not as I do on this one.

1. Overclock until the magic smoke comes out. 2. Modify until broken. 3. Fix and repeat.
