Hello fellow gamers.  I am currently in the progress of making a list of the items I want in my first build, and I am looking to build a mid to high end build.  I am thinking of using an i5 4690K with a Asus z79-AR mobo and a nvidia gtx 970.  I have consistently see people talk about how the mobo has little to no influence on performance, hence the cheaper mobo.  Is the 4690K suitable for a gtx 970?

thanks

Sorry, silly question:  should I be concerned about bottlenecks?  For gaming purposes, does the 4690K perform on average the same as the 4790K?  I have no intention of doing any video or editing work.

thanks

According to benchmark videos on YouTube, the 4790 offers very little advantage over the 4690 and not on every game. It's not cost effective because of the price difference.

The 4690k won't bottleneck Quad TitanXs.

Yes, they do. Not many games use more than 4 cores.

i have a 4690k and a 970 and it bottlenecks like crazy!!!!

seriously the 4690k won't bottleneck a single gpu for the foreseeable future. hell the i5 2500k is still going strong :P

while a motherboard doesn't directly impact performance, it plays a major role in stability and overclocking. I'd recommend the z97-A if you can fit it into your budget without sacrificing anything else. it is a great board and has good overclocking potential (plus overclocking on it is pretty easy), but only if you can fit it in without sacrificing anything performance related. (i'm assuming you meant z97-ar?)

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB

good luck getting any game to actually use 4 titans....

if the titans were fully used tho..im sure a 4690 would be the bottleneck
