Recomendations

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

I would put an i7-4790 or i7-4790k in there instead of the i5-4690k, especially since you mentioned you want to stream. It'll be quite a price jump though, so it's whatever you want to do. Other than that, it looks great!

Happy Gaming! :)

I'm playing games professionally and streaming. I currently have a GTX 960 in sli but i'm only going to buy one for the meantime.

I had a GTX960 2GB (instead of 4) but looking at games like GTA5 (which i do play from time to time), it looks like games are ramping up their memory usage.

Please DONT talk about:

1. 1440P monitors (no point in professional gaming)

2. anything amd

3. anything that's contrasting against my blue scheme

I encourage any other suggestions.

Here's my listed parts, http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/gV4xQ7(some items are already purchased)

Drop the liquid cooler to get an i7-4790k, it'll really help when streaming, as @Emilyraexo said.

Also, I'd suggest getting a single 980 instead of 960 SLI. http://www.ocaholic.ch/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=1538&page=1 You won't have to deal with the microstuttering of SLI, and cut down on the possible headaches of SLI, such as some games not supporting it. I just think it's a better idea if you're streaming and gaming professionally. You can even SLI 980s later on if you'd like.

I don't do signatures.

What do you mean by professional gaming? Are you gaming competitively?

Why 2 ssd's?

The link you gave me talked about a GTX960 with 2gb vram. I'm hoping to get the 4gb version. Although i'm only using a 1080P monitor, i can see games even for 1080P taking more than 2gb of memory.

Ah i didn't think about that. But still, i stand by getting a 980 (or 970). You'll have more options in the future with regards to upgrades instead of being tied down with 2 low powered cards. The other option would be to SLI 970s (or just get one for now) and get great performance without the price tag of 980s. It's also much more powerful than a single 980 for a pretty small investment. I just don't see anyone recommending SLI with anything lower than a 970.

I don't do signatures.

The only problem I see with that is his struggle with streaming. There's no way that CPU could handle to play and stream GTA V.

Where'd you get that idea?

If the 4690k had trouble streaming GTA V, so would almost everyone else.

Because playing the game by itself will just about max out that CPU, not counting streaming. You can't stream intensive games like GTA V on just an i5...

GTA V runs fine on 2 cores. The 4690k has power to spare for streaming.

It's going to take about 80% of your processor, and you'll need around 20% for streaming (not including taking internet factors into the equation). You're pushing really close to 100%, and you'll have some problems. I would highly suggest going for at least an i7 for streaming so you have wiggle room so you aren't stressing you CPU as much.

Take this person for example:

GTA V has been known for having high CPU usage rates, and it takes up a majority of the usage especially in quad-cores.

Read the comments for the video. The issue wasn't the 4690k not being powerful enough but instead AUTOSCAN for music which indicates an issue with the storage drive.

I don't see what you're talking about, but the CPU usage is high on many PCs regardless. From experience, I can tell you that it takes up most of the CPU usage on quad-core processors. I wouldn't ever recommend someone to use an i5 for streaming and playing an intensive game like GTA V.

How much power the game needs to run well and how well the game can utilize surplus power are two different things.

Majority of gamers that have been playing GTA V with quad-cores experience it to not dip under 80% CPU usage. On the second comment, a person refers to the i5 4690k, and he experiences 90% CPU usage. He may get lucky and his CPU may allow him to be able to stream and play GTA V, which would max out his CPU usage regardless, but working on PCs (especially when putting stress on the CPU) has nothing to do with luck. If he wants to comfortably stream and play GTA V with wiggle room like I said all along, he should go with an i7. End of story.

Again--just because the game can use more than 80% of the cpu's resources doesn't mean it needs 80% of the cpu's resources to play the game.

An analogy:

It may take 10 strips of bacon to satisfy my hunger but I'll eat 20 strips if it's available.

few things:

1. Crucial BX100 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive is nice, but why this change?

2. G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory i like this :) although the aveixer with led looks better. idk yet

3. Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card It's not blue. The only reason why i chose gigabyte is coz it's blue...

4.EVGA 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply i keep my thing on almost 24-7. I could go with this but i don't care about how much i spend

5. BenQ XL2420Z 144Hz 24.0" Monitor. tbh i've tired this monitor at a friends house. but standards for most of my tournaments use the asus gaming monitor.

6. Cooler Master Hyper 212X 82.9 CFM CPU Cooler my dad used to have this. i personally don't like it. so probs not this one.

thanks' for your feedback mate. still want to know your thoughts on the crucial ssds tho

1. Cheaper but maintains much of the sequential transfer speed which is the point of using raid 0, right?

2. Up to you. I like Avexir Core as well but not being able to turn off the leds might get annoying.

3. Neither card is blue--they're both black. The Strix just has a red sticker that isn't that bright and wouldn't be visible when installed unless you were looking up at it from below the case.

4. That doesn't make a difference?

5. So you'd prefer the Asus display to be accustomed to the standard? I'm not entirely sure but my guess for why tournaments use Asus would be it being around longer and pricing.

6. What didn't you like about it? Are you sure it was the 212x and not an older revision?

2. haha true.

3. the gigabyte has a bright led on it's windforce cooler

4.i guess. but i have custom sleved cables and i want them to be all the same. plus the power supply is black and blue

5.yea no need to talk about this (already bought)

6. i like liquid coolers more. looks better  :)
