Looking towards 780

Looking towards the 780 for my build but 7970GE CFX destroys it in pretty much every game

I live in Aus

They both cost about the same

But I was thinking of waiting for the new 9000 series and getting the 9970

Will be buying towards the end of the year

I can wait

if you need more power get a new card. waiting makes no sense. if you can wait as you say you don't need to buy a new card :D

If you are buying at the end of the year then look in to a 9970, but if you need to upgrade now and the 7970GE CFX is destroying at the same price as the 780, then get it now.

I think the biggest issue with the 780 is the VRAM. For $650 there should be more then 3GB!

3GB is fine for 1080p but for 1440p it's not future proof whatsoever.

If you're fine with your performance now then wait for the new AMD cards later this year. You'll be kicking yourself if AMD releases something on par with the 780 for cheaper.

Thanks guys. Since this is gonna happen towards Christmas time I should get some amazing deals then. Ill wait till the new AMD cards come out and I'll get the flagship one. As you said it might perform on par with the 780 and come at a cheaper price point
