Linux Software on Chrome OS

Go to solution Solved by Goldensapling,

I've looked into this before for my school chromebook. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=installing+ubuntu+on+chromebookThat's your best way to get it done.

Hi, I have recently inherited a Chromebook, which for all intensive purposes will be used in school and some minor web browsing.

However the lack of decent office software is disappointing. There is Google docs, which you can use offline but is limited, or there is Office online which is fine but you have to have an internet connection. Any other method hasn't really solve he issue for me either.

I know that Chrome OS is a Linux based OS and I know you can run another Linux based OS such as Unbuntu side by side. But is there anyway you can install Linux based software directly onto the Chrome OS. I don't really want to have to alternate between the two OS's if it can be avoided and would like to use a Linux based office package such as the Kingsoft free office

Any help is appreciated
