WHich Nas Drive

Go to solution Solved by Captain_WD,

Which is better, Seagate Nas or Western Digital Red NAS.

Hey ChaseB,

I would say that it is important that the specific drives have all the necessary features for stable, safe and good performance in NAS environments. These include compatible firmware that is optimized for working with other drives in RAID array, lower operating temperatures, low vibrations and noise, durability when it comes to more hostile environments, TLER and other features. Many people use WD Red in their NAS setups and are very happy with their performance, so I would say they are good drives. A HDD is a mechanical unit, after all and failures do happen for one reason or another. Do make sure you have some level of redundancy and backups on storage drive that are not connected to your system.

Captain_WD.

Get whichever is cheaper. Both companies make good drives.
