Helloooo. I really didn't know where to post this so moderators can feel free to move this topic wherever they want.

I have this HP laptop I'm typing on right now. I need some money so I want to sell it and get a new PC. (The exact model is HP 655)

The area below the keyboard is grey, and it got scratched.

Once I lightly scratched it i realized it that the original color of the plastic was either black, or the guys that painted it first applied a thick layer of black paint and then proceeded to do some coats of really thin white to get the gray color. (I think it works like that)

Sooo, since  my scratch looks like a** on my laptop (I may provide a picture) I want to scrape everything off and get to the original color of the bottom plastic and repaint it all again. Should I use low granulation sand paper and then finish it off with something else?

i'd either paint it again or sand everything off, start with a course grit (240 minimum otherwise it will be too course) and work your way up to 4000, then you can polish it if you want a glossy finish
