Anti Static Safety question

Hi I was just wondering how I can test my new anti static wrist band (I DONT HAVE A MULTIMETER) 

and also if a wood table would be a good building surface.

A wooden table is not conductive, so it is a fine surface for building on.

 

Just clamp the strap to your power supply or to a metal piece of your case. It's passive, therefore you can't really test it.

Wood table would work, but build it on your motherboard box

I built a PC earlier today and didn't even bother with an anti-static strap, I just went right ahead and built it (Booted perfectly fine)

And that isn't the first PC I've built without using one, I've built probably around 5 total, and they all have received 0 damage from static electricity.

As long as you touch the metal part of your case to diffuse static before handling the parts you should be fine.

should it be plugged in when on the PSU and off? because when i'm building, what will happen when i want to turn it on for the post?

You seem overly paranoid about this. Honestly, you don't even need an anti-static wrist strap--but you may as well use it since you own one.

 

For simplicity, leave it attached the entire time.
