Its my first time building my PC, these are the parts I'm thinking of using. 

 

Any recommendations for new parts?

MotherBoard: Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 3 - $199

 

If not overclocking, I dont think you need a Z Series board(Thats what i heard.) Another cheaper board (H97?) Will do fine. Cant recommend you one as I do not know much about MOBOs.

Right on budget, and it's in a small form factor ;)

If you really wanted to max out the overclock on the 280X you might want to look into a slightly bigger PSU, but seeing as how you wen't with a non-K CPU, I don't think you'll be overclocking the GPU either.

I have a H81 and because he isn't doing any oc (cpu is not a K series) he should  be fine with that :D

nope, but in this instance it saves a couple bucks

 

the mATX version of the mobo I listed is 10-15$ more. and then you'd need to get a bigger case, which is about the same cost wise.

 

I don't really see the point in getting an mITX board and not putting it in an mITX case. Everything else would just make it look naked inside lol

 

Cases are personal preference anyways, so just get whatever you like in your budget
